Postpartum support services are available at an hourly rate and include:
- breastfeeding support
- light cleaning such as dishes and laundry
- meal preparation
- assistance with errands
- knowledgeable support for mom and baby
- Craniosacral support for mom and baby as needed
- The goal of postpartum support is to assist families through the transition into parenthood, typically the first 2-3 months. While in the home I hope to see mom be able to shower and eat well and light house work kept up with before piles of laundry become mountains.
Duties are as flexible as a family’s needs. New parents frequently have grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc. come to visit that may or may not be helpful as postpartum support. A postpartum doula fills in the gaps while company is in town or most especially in the weeks after family has gone. Postpartum overwhelm is normal, sometimes more pronounced in first time moms but not unheard of after subsequent children. Before overwhelm becomes depression, find the support your family needs. Ask for details.
